Warrior Transition Unit

On December 19th, twenty two Heroes Among Us volunteers drove down to Ft. Hood for our 2019 WTU Christmas Outreach program, bringing food baskets and Christmas cards filled with cash.  It was an unbelievable success, thanks to all of you who supported this great effort for our active duty soldiers of the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU).

As you may know, the cadre of the WTU selects 25 soldiers in the unit who they feel are in the most need at Christmas time.  We delivered our baskets and even better, we presented each of them with a card filled with $300 cash--- the most we have ever been able to provide.  For a young soldier with a family, that $300 makes their Holiday so much brighter.

I saw and heard a lot of wonderful things Tuesday.  I saw each of our volunteers engaged in conversation with one of the WTU soldiers, bringing cheer to them at Christmastime.  And I heard the stories of these young soldiers, some of them heartbreaking, but all of them going through some tough times.  I think what we did for them really made an impact on their Holiday outlook.

So put it on your calendar in 2020!! Third week of December we will do it again, helping those soldiers in need but also putting each of you in the true Christmas Spirit.

God bless each and every one of you and your families.
Merry Christmas.
