Dear Heroes Among Us Family,

As always, I open this note with a word of thanks to all of you who donated to our annual Fort Hood Christmas Outreach, and to those of you who gave up a busy Holiday Tuesday to attend the event.  Because of your generosity we were able to set a new standard, allowing us to put $250 cash in our Christmas envelopes.  And of course we brought our 25 Christmas food baskets, with special thanks to Julia Stewart who once again provided 25 handmade blankets.

This year we had 22 volunteers drive to Ft. Hood for our Christmas Outreach, which allowed us to go one-on-one with every soldier.  Yes, we gave out baskets, blankets, and cash, but as LTC Liz Cain (the commander of the WTU) mentioned, it was the time spent with these young soldiers during a difficult time in their lives that was so memorable and meaningful.

Again, thank you for supporting our Christmas Outreach program and Heroes Among Us over the last year.  We were able to do great things in support of our veteran community and our active duty warriors.  As you pray with family over your Christmas table, say a prayer for all our military, whether they are serving Stateside or standing night watch on some distant frontier, that they will be safe from harm.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Heroes Among Us.
